HarGar,

Have you ever thought of joining the corrupt police force here in Korea? You are fabulously good at speculating and spinning little truths into fantastical lies.

When in the interview do I say I am on an E-2 Visa? Right. Never. I'm not a teacher, I'm a poker player. And for you and anyone else who thinks it was a bad idea for me to write this simple fact on my official police statement, you are wrong. I've got nothing to hide. I'm happy as a pig in shit not to have an E-2 visa anymore. Check out the article on metropolitician.com comparing the E-2 to indentured servitude. I've heard of teachers being told they can't leave the country for their vacation or they will be fired... because obviously only foreigners can bring swine flu into Korea. Not my kind of visa.

None of us has anything to hide. That's why those of us not involved with the bust went to the police station voluntarily to give statements and piss in dixie cups. We are just a group of friends who enjoy playing poker together occasionally and we wanted to show a unified front.

The police blew everything out of proportion. I believe the media that was present was surprised to see a group of foreigners at the police station joking and laughing and taking pictures of them taking pictures. I guarantee the police were angry that we were making a mockery of their elaborate attempt to make a mockery of our poker game. When one officer asked me to do a demonstration on camera because I "play more than the others" I told him to do his own job, laughed in his face, and walked away.

The whole story isn't out yet and when the time is right it will be. In the meantime, everyone needs to realize that this is the tip of the iceberg. We aren't crying foul because we were caught doing something illegal. Slap us with a fine and be done with it. The police and netizen groups like anti-english spectrum are looking for any excuse to vilify foreigners and because we don't have the money to bribe them like the locals do, somebody needs to take as stand.

Player said,
"i am one of the players who was not involved in the bust at all "

Really, well aren't you special.

Player said,
"On the same page i could also accuse you of working with the police and the korean media and posting these statements to make it look as if foriegners are appauled by the situation."

Next headline at this site, "Foreigners Find Colluding With Press and Police at This Site to Make it Look as if They are Appalled!"

What the hell are you doing here anyway? You are way too far out ahead of us to look back at us ignorant and appalled fools. Keep your distance from us, the press, and the police!

Thanks for that. I'll post it.

Still, the foreigners' side has often been published in the English dailies, but in the big PR picture, the damage is already done.

To be fair, you should note that the foreigners' side of the story has been published in today's Korea Herald:

okay so hargar,

you really must know what your talking about before making accusations. Yes they have been doing this a long time because these people have been playing poker for a long period of time and enjoy it. So therefore most people who enjoy things tend to study them. They do not come off at all as people who are operating a gambling /Drug ring. Oh and by the way i happen to know that it was not at all for all you bloggers here becuase i am one of the players who was not involved in the bust at all and have kept my distance because of the way the police are conducting themselves. So if you are highly doubting there innocence i hope this sets the record straight for you. They did commit an illegal act but in no way were they opporating a gambling/drug ring of any sort. You are now making accusations yourself and dont know much about the stituation at all especially because from what i'm hearing from you, you are uneducated about gambling or poker lifestyle in general. You may have given statements to the police before but i'm sure it was for something very small so the police didnt take it as seriously so do not try and combine your own situation with this one becuase it has no relevance. On the same page i could also accuse you of working with the police and the korean media and posting these statements to make it look as if foriegners are appauled by the situation. Sympathy should always be given to people whom have been wronged so dont sit there and judge when obviously you dont know anything and by the looks of it never will.
